GANG GANG DANCE ‎– Glass Jar / MindKilla

$25.00
GANG GANG DANCE ‎– Glass Jar / MindKilla LP (2011), New Gang Gang Dance's first release for 4AD.  This double A-side 12” "Glass Jar / MindKilla". Recorded with long-term collaborator Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Zola Jesus, Beach House and TV On The Radio), "Eye Contact" 's opening track "Glass Jar" begins with the brief declaration "I can hear everything. It's everything time", and then morphs effortlessly into an audacious eleven- minute slow-burner. The anthemic "MindKilla" offers a more melodic and succinct Gang Gang Dance, led by the distinct vocals of Lizzi Bougatsos. Released as a special edition 12” in deluxe sleeve.

DOUBLE LEOPARDS; A hole is true

$30.00
DOUBLE LEOPARDS; A hole is true LP, 2005 Recorded, appropriately enough, at the Tar Pit in Brooklyn, A Hole Is True is likely to be the group's easiest-to-find release to date, and is perhaps the most succinct distillation of their shadowy, merciless arts. The title seems a slight misdirection, as there's no sign of holes anywhere on the album's three impossibly dense squalls. Whatever its substance, the opening "Inmost Light" enters with a dizzying electric whirr that repeatedly threatens to congeal into a riff, before getting blown to pieces by a cyclone of unmoored spectral wails. "Chemical Wedding" is even simpler, just a razor-thin current of pulsing overtones, while the 21-minute "White Cadillacs" uses voices nearly recognizable as human to deliver shifty messages directly to the reptilian core of your brainstem.

GYPSY HOUSE: Sundays & Cybele; 2xCD (2012) Japanese Psych

$85.00
Japanese, Psych, Psychedelic, Japan, Guitar, Rock, Heavy, Rare, Import; 2xCD set - Ex Used condition
While the Sundays & Cybele of today is a very contemporary creature, integrating influences from both the then, and the now, "Gypsy House" reveals a band revelling in the trappings of the late sixties to the extent that it could quite convincingly be passed off as an artifact from that time. Group leader Kazuo Tsubouchi has stated in interviews that one of the main goals that he hopes to achieve through Sundays & Cybele's music is an increased awareness of classic Japanese psychedelia, and "Gypsy House" should certainly pique the curiosity of younger listeners, who haev yet to discover the delights of Blues Creation, Speed, Glue & Shinki and the likes. And likewise, listeners who are already fans of those artists will freak out when they hear this.  A six track release, trimmed down from a longer digital release, this more streamlined version of the album is a heavy psych-lovers dream, with an exremely pronounced Jimi Hendrix influence, which I've rarely heard done better, aside from the maestro himself of course. Led by Kazuo Tsubouch's inspired guitar work, these six tracks have an average running time of around seven minutes, but never show signs of floundering. It's rare to hear a record where the jamming is this focussed.  Tsubouchi's guitar takes the lead here, more often than the vocals even, with "Saint Song"s electric slide playing providing one of the album's most memorable riffs - think David Gilmour's playing on "One of these Days" given a kick in the pants.  Psychedelic guitar lovers will be in absolute Heaven with this album.

VITAL Zine: Issue 22 – December 1991 (Contemporary Underground Magazine for Electronic and Electroacoustic Music) Frans de Waard – ROBERT ASHLEY

$35.00
Original Xeroxed Zine  -

Frans de Waard published Vital, a fanzine for electronic and electroacoustic music, from 1987 to 1995. It was a low-budget, Xeroxed publication, bearing the revolutionary instruction: ‘No Copyright Publication. Reprint Now!’ It featured interviews with Asmus Tietchens, O Yuki Conjugate, Merzbow, P16.D4, Pierre Henry, Jim O’Rourke, Brume, Döc Wor Mirran and many others, hosted discussions on copyright, plagiarism and plunderphonics, house music, ambient music, cassette culture and noise, and included contributions from musicians such as Leigh Landy, Godfried Willem Raes, John Duncan, and GX Jupitter-Larsen. Every issue included reviews of cassette releases, LPs, CDs and books. A total of 44 issues were published. Vital moved online in 1995, where it appeared every week since as Vital Weekly.

Frans de Waard has played with Kapotte Muziek to Beequeen (with Freek Kinkelaar), Goem (with Roel Meelkop and Peter Duimelinks, both of whom are also a member of Kapotte Muziek), Zebra (with Roel Meelkop) as well as solo projects under the moniker Freiband and Shifts, and under his own name. De Waard worked for Staalplaat (1992-2003) and since 1986 as a reviewer for his own independent zine publication Vital.  VITAL zine is a lively record of the heyday of cassette culture and industrial music, but also of developments in the wider field of electronic music.
