Jandek, Outsider, Acoustic, Live, Concert, Experimental; DVD - New
Quite spirited bass and drum accompaniments, but a fairly "by-the-numbers" performance as far as the Corwood rep is concerned. Bonus points for "Whose Mister Is This", which might be one of the creepiest-sounding things Jandek has ever released, and that's saying a lot.
Paradise Lost, True Crime, Metallica, Documentary; 2xDVD set with Booklet - Ex Used condition
This two disc set is a documentary which covers the murder of three 8 year old boys in the Memphis area. It covers the discovery of the bodies and the subsequent arrest, charge and conviction of three teenagers. The case became notorious as one in which the convictions were unsound and the way this film is presented allows the viewer to understand how and where opportunities were lost or missed by the police and raises serious concerns about the judicial system. It's shocking and emotional. Compelling viewing.

Zhang Ke Jia is a masterful director. His use of colour and character direction is unreal. One of the things he uses to great effect are arches and hallways. Characters appear in them, or look out of them in what is some of the most visual photography I have ever witnessed. But it doesn't end there. The film is beyond surreal, its real setting makes it all more spectacular and that more effective. Att times it feels like watching a documentary and finds the viewer hoping for characters to do well and be happy and find themselves thinking that these were real people in harsh sometimes difficult situations. "The World" has this effect on you, you can't begin to believe the beauty and harshness it shows, and it tricks you in the most crafty way. The World is a truly fantastic small place in more ways than one...
Horror, Gore, German, Bloody, Bloodthirsty, Nasty; DVD - New
The background story is set in medieval times and consumes the opening title sequence at a brisk and gory pace but then rapidly transfers to the present day. Just when the viewer is getting accustomed to a placid transition set within pleasant scenery, the body count accelerates rapidly as the agent of death and destruction gets familiarised with the modern day environment. It is a period of calm before the unrelenting storm of death which follows right to the end.

Comedy, Satanic, Experimental, Mixtape, Counter Culture, Everything Is Terrible; DVD - New
The beauty in this insane bowl of VHS mashed potatoes is how, after 72 minutes, everything feels like it is exactly in the right place, and what a terrible terrible place that turns out to be. What makes EIT's TGS great is that it clearly relishes in the nihilist fringe of the culture-jammers. Nihilism, in these troubled, modern times, can be a wonderful thing and that's what we have here. That it makes a fool out of the leaders and followers behind "Satanic Panic" type movements/media is just gravy. Let The Great Satan wash over you.......

Japan, Shock, Gore, Blood, Infamous, Nasty, Erotic, Roughie, Disturbing; DVD - New Sealed
Two females seem to suffer from past traumas. Both commit blood-filled suicides with way more imaginary/graphic ways than just shotgun-to-mouth. There is no dialogs at all, porn-movie-like music plays on background while the girls are getting cut and so on. If you like blood, more blood, toothbrush, a fork, and japan shock, this is a must see. Low-grade, Japanese obscurity Women's Flesh: My Red Guts consists of two shot-on-video segments depicting grueling scenes of graphic self-mutilation, all designed to appear as gut-churningly real as possible: in the first, a woman chews off one of her fingers and chokes herself to death with a scarf; the woman in part two stabs herself in the leg with a fork, cuts open her belly, chows down on her guts, slices off her tongue, and eventually kills herself by thrusting the fork into her forehead. There's no plot to speak of and hardly any dialogue—just plenty of extremely bloody imagery designed to appease fans of ultra-violent, transgressive pseudo-snuff. This super-sick effort certainly has the right look and feel to it

“From the outrageous imagination of cult director Teruo Ishii (Orgies of Edo, Horrors of Malformed Men) comes this infamous omnibus of three shocking tales of crime and punishment based on true-life documented cases set during the reign of the Tokugawa shogunate.
The first tale sees the beautiful Mitsu (Masumi Tachibana) going to horrifying lengths to tend to her older brother Shinzō (Teruo Yoshida), a carpenter injured in a work accident, but the law catches up on them and metes out a terrifying retribution after they violate the ultimate taboo. In the second, unfettered passions in a Buddhist nunnery are not allowed to go unpunished after abbess Reihō (Yukie Kagawa) and her attendant Rintoku (Naomi Shiraishi) encounter a virile young monk from a neighboring temple. In the closing segment, a sadistic torturer (Fumio Watanabe) attempts to show a tattoo artist (Asao Koike) how to depict convincing expressions of faces of pain in his work by allowing him to sketch a selection of Europeans as they are tortured for entering Japan with the aim of spreading Christianity. Ishii’s notorious portmanteau of Edo-era excess signaled a change in direction for a director until then regarded for his crime and yakuza films, setting the ball rolling on the run of grotesque historical anthologies for which he is now best remembered. Vehemently denounced by the critics of the day, Shogun’s Joy of Torture set a new benchmark for the depiction of sex, sadism and depravity in Japanese exploitation, with Ishii staging his elaborate torture methods with an unmatched verve and inventiveness.
