LA VIDA LOCA; DVD (2008)
DVD (2008)
The fearless photographer and documentary-maker Christian Poveda submerges himself into central America, into the underbelly of society. He managed to get permission from the Salvadorian police and one of the gangs, the "18", to follow them in their lives. Four years later, La Vida Loca sees the light, taking you along the path of violent outcasts of society. And it is very different to what you might imagine. The documentary takes us from the unfolding of someone's life to their funeral after a shooting. It is an endless spiral of gang violence, with seemingly no point to the gang war whatsoever, other than that of having an enemy to unite them. Joining a gang is not even an alternative employer for the poor, as the gang does not offer any external symbols of success (wealth, privilege, whatever). In fact, the gang does not seem to offer anything at all but the prospect of death, jail or invalidity. Hardly the attractive option, but these youths are already broken by their lives. And change becomes inevitable with the gang tattoos (voluntary or forced) marking their allegiance. Once you are have your face covered in tattoos, you can no longer send your CV anywhere. They can not back down. After the films release, filmmaker Christian Poveda was killed by gang members who appeared in the film, who claimed that he was a police informer.
SONIC YOUTH; Нация Мечтателей (Nation of Dreamers) (1991)
LP (Russian bootleg release of 'Daydream Nation), Used
This is an awesome item for any Sonic Youth collector. The back story is that during the cold war, the USSR's governing powers placed restrictions on imports of some international musical recordings, specifically those from the USA. Thus began a Soviet phenomenon of “bone music” (roentgenizdat) – where bootleg recordings of music that had been banned in the USSR, would be lathe cut on to, and released as "flexi disc" records on discarded x-rays. This record is a direct recording pressed form a 'bone music' bootleg, released to Russian Sonic Youth fans who would otherwise not have access to this classic LP.
Released in Russia( read USSR) in 1991. The interesting thing about this, bootleg release LP, is that it has only 8 tracks on a single disc, instead of the original double LP, which contained 14 tracks. The person who produced the bootleg, supposedly just picked out the songs that they liked from the original LP. Apparently, they didn't have a copy of the original artwork, and so just took their own photos of a candle to try to replicate the original artwork, which were of course were the original Gerhard Richter paintings. The names of the tracks are in Russian on the backside of LP. The name roughly translates to "Nation of Dreamers".
Track listing in English as follows:
A1. Teen Age Riot
A2. Silver Rocket
A3. Cross The Breeze
B1. Eric's Trip
B2. Hey Joni
B3. Providence
B4. Candle
B5. Rain King
SAVAGE MAN, SAVAGE BEAST; DVD
DVD (1975), New
Savage Man Savage Beast, is a 1975 'Mondo' documentary film co-produced, and co-directed by Antonio Climati and Mario Mora. Filmed all around the world, its central theme focuses on hunting and the interaction between man and animal. Like many mondo films, the filmmakers claim to document real, bizarre and violent behavior and customs. This was the first film of Climati's and Morra's Savage Trilogy, which also includes "This Violent World" and "Sweet and Savage". Arguably the most infamous film of the trilogy, Savage Man Savage Beast became influential in exploitation cinema by use of cinematographic techniques that were repeated in numerous subsequent Mondo films. Two scenes in particular, a lion attack on a tourist in Namibia and the murder of an indigenous man by a group of mercenaries in South America, have gained notoriety as genuine footage of human death.
This film is new and sealed, well presented bootleg on no official label.

THE UKRAINIANS; A short hisrory of rock music in Ukranian
LP, Limited Edition, Numbered (2015), New
By mixing snatches of Ukrainian folk melodies alongside a driving rhythm section, whistles, accordion, mandolins and fiddle, 'The Ukranians' weave counter-intuitive cacophonies of barely contained chaos. And the vocals! Oh, the vocals! If you ever wondered what may be the connection between Nirvana, the Mamas and the Papas, and Kraftwerk, well, wonder no more: it’s Ukrainian. Other artists with their material transformed include Led Zeppelin, Iggy Pop, and R.E.M., with reprises of their Smiths and Sex Pistols songs. Hell, they even manage to pull off “Back in the USSR,” a slightly too obvious choice, but here bludgeoned successfully into submission.

ZOMBY; Gasp!
12" EP (2017), New
On GASP!, Zomby provokes us yet again with straightforward techno, though it's not without its eccentricities. GASP! still retains the aloof flamboyance that's become Zomby's calling card—even if that aloofness can sometimes resemble laziness.
