ZOMBY; Gasp!
12" EP (2017), New
On GASP!, Zomby provokes us yet again with straightforward techno, though it's not without its eccentricities. GASP! still retains the aloof flamboyance that's become Zomby's calling card—even if that aloofness can sometimes resemble laziness.

THEM BONERS BE POPPIN'; V/A comp
LP (1985), Used
Here's a great comp out of the bay area. Boner Records out of Berkeley, California put this one out in 1985. It features some great tracks from Verbal Abuse, Fang, The Boneless Ones and others. A really good record.... I especially love the subtitle on the cover:
"Self indulgent rock stars feed their hopelessly overblown egos while we exploit them for every penny they're worth."
This is the original 1985 'Boner Records' press.

THE BIG SOUNDS OF THE DRAGS; LP
LP (1963), Used
This LP is an audio document of Drag racing in the 60's and it's the best shit ever......
A 26-minute feast for the ears for fans of early 1960s drag racing, The Big Sounds of the Drags was produced by Jim Economides and featured quarter-mile passes captured by professional recording equipment. Side one of this album begins with a condensed history of drag racing. The titled sections of the LP are introduced by the narrator. For instance, the explanation of "Stock Cars" is followed by the sound of stockers blazing down the strip, interspersed with actual tower announcements from each race. The same treatment was then given to the "Roadsters." Side two is from the 1962 Winternationals at Pomona, California, with lots of passes and track announcements. Narration is minimal, but "Elimination" is introduced. A showdown between famed racers Jack Chrisman and Tom McEwen is also featured in this section, along with others.
BORN LOSERS; Original Movie Soundtrack
LP (1967), Used
Born Losers is a 1967 American outlaw biker film. The film introduced half American Indian, Green Beret, Vietnam veteran Billy Jack. The film script was quickly written in the 60's designed to capitalize on the then-popular trend in motorcycle gang movies. The story was based on a real incident from 1964 where members of the Hells Angels were arrested for raping two teenage girls in Monterey, California.
This is the original 1967 release, credited to The Sidewalk Sounds, Terry Stafford and Summer Saxophones.
THE RESIDENTS; Intermission
EP (1982), New
This is the 12" EP, Limeted Numbered reissue for Record Store Day 2017
The full title of this EP is: Intermission: Extraneous Music from the Residents' Mole Show
HUGO RACE AND THE TRUE SPIRIT; Rue Morgue Blues
LP (1987), Used
Rue Morgue Blues is a perfect title for the tenebrous kind of Gothic blues Hugo Race performs on his debut album. But among the many that play Gothic rock Hugo Race occupies a special place – he’s on the avant-garde top of this high and bleak crag. And every song is a tiara shining with its own unique jewels. Saxophone opening “Rue Morgue Blues” is magnanimously fabulous and the song itself is no less than public flagellation. Murky, industrialised gothic blues a deeper shade of dark than anything The Bad Seeds ever quite managed. Music to hide bodies to.
PURLING HISS; Lounge Lizards
12", Limited Edition, Numbered (2011), EP
With 'Lounge Lizards', Purling Hiss has tapped into a trashy aesthetic that's part of rock'n'roll's DNA. They have got introspective druggy tunes and riff-heavy party songs, both of which romanticize the brilliance of a scuzzy rock burnout. But "burnout" is as good a word as any to convey their brand of rock grit, which is slathered in cruddy production and with a hard emphasis on shredding.
Lounge Lizards' six tracks serve as a logical follow up to the bands previous release 'Public Service Announcement' which was also a meeting of catchy hooks and awful production quality. Of course, the sound is presumably intentional and serves a few purposes on the EP, it dampens screams, accents enormous guitar solos, adds density to an already dark song, and muffles instruments' sounds so they bleed together. The effect defines Purling Hiss' sound.
PSYCHEDELIC HORSESHIT; Golden Oldies
LP (2009), New
Psychedelic Horseshit at times recall the early Pavement singles later collected on Westing (By Musket and Sextant)-- snide charm and crappy sound figure heavily into the success of both. As with 'Westing', Golden Oldies, is a collection of CD-Rs and other small-batch material that predates their 2007 LP debut Magic Flowers Droned, and Shitgaze Anthems, a collection of would-be B-sides from the aforementioned Hits LP.
