INSTRUMENT (2011); Hardcover

Music/Art/Photography/Guitar Hardcover (160 pages), New

Instruments tell stories through their appearance as much as through their sound.  Pat Graham’s photographs capture the intimate relationship between musician and instrument told by the signs of wear of fingers on frets or keys, chips, scratches, and modifications by the artists who have played, beaten on, bled over, and made them their own.  For more than ten years, Graham has been documenting these amazing instruments and collecting stories about them from musicians on the road, in clubs, and at home, including members of The Smiths, Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, R.E.M., New Order, Wire, Fugazi, Built to Spill, Band of Horses, Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and many more. His gritty and beautiful images reveal the physical nature of music.

Silver. Skate. Seventies: California Skateboarding 1975-78; Hugh Holland

$75.00
In the 1970s, photographer Hugh Holland masterfully captured the burgeoning culture of skateboarding against a sometimes harsh but always sunny Southern California landscape. This never-before-published collection showcases his black-and-white photographs that document young skateboarders sidewalk surfing off Mulholland Drive in concrete drainage ditches and empty swimming pools in a drought-ridden Southern California. From suburban backyard haunts to the asphalt streets that connected them, this was the place that inspired the legendary Dogtown and Z-Boys skateboarders. With their requisite bleached-blond hair, tanned bodies, tube socks and Vans, these young outsiders evoke the sometimes reckless but always exhilarating origins of skateboarding lifestyle and culture.

SAVAGE CINEMA (Hardcover) Rick Trader Witcombe (1975); Book

$60.00
SAVAGE CINEMA (Hardcover) Rick Trader Witcombe (1975); Book Books of this quality are like a drug for cinema fetishists of a certain disposition... of course it is'dated'... there are even a few morsels of arcane trivia/inaccuracies (the days when rumour held a firmer sway over the imagination) that might raise an eyebrow ... You only want it for the cover anyway, and that's fine. All the film books in this series (Ape: The Kingdom of Kong, Cut - The Unseen Cinema) are extremely sought after by the cool people, and that's all who need to know......  Rare.
