Dark Ambient, Experimental, Ambient, Germany; Double Vinyl LP (2010) RARE! - Ex Used condition
Transcendent dark ambient from sunny Germany. The Incarnation of the Solar Architects makes me feel as though I am a human-shaped pile of ash and dust that is being blown into the æther by cosmic winds. You know, like in 'Altered States'.....
Synth, Noise, Experimental, Wolf Eyes, Nate Young; Limited Edition Vinyl LP (500 copies) - Ex Used condition
This split LP is, fittingly enough, a co-release between the CIP label and Vertonen's own CIP imprint. Demons is the all-synth-playing duo of Wolf Eyes man Nate Young and Steven Kenney of Isis and Werewolves, and their side comes in the form of a live recording of a Chicago show from earlier this year. The sounds are brutal but highly sculpted oscillator articulations very much in keeping with the Merzbow/Carlos Giffoni analogue material that was circulating a month or so back. It's a hybrid of ferocious noise assaults and sci-fi LFO experiments. Very nice indeed. Over on the flipside Vertonen pushes the volume levels upward for some grittier sounds, which flail about the place admirably until the whole thing settles down into a solid drone signal, which reluctantly ebbs out to a close.....
Experimental, Electronic, Noise, Nate Young, Wolf Eyes, Detroit, Industrial, Harsh; Vinyl LP (2008)
Nate Young airs two of his alter egos on this great split LP: Demons, featuring Steve Kenney, and Hatred, which combines Young once again with Kenney, but this time with the added presence of Spence Bryant. The Hatred side sounds like the motor on your turntable is continually breaking down, as if some perpetual Technics power-down effect was causing all manner of primitive pitch-sliding antics to go haywire on those squelchy synth oscillations. The Demons side is rather different from their ace No Fun album and instead sounds like some hiss covered live recording of a garage rock band buried underneath some rubble. You'd expect this to be pretty grotesque sounding, but it's all so much filthier than you're likely to have bargained for.

Industrial, Noise, Experimental, Power Electronics, Dark Ambient; Double Gatefold Vinyl LP - Ex Used condition
Breathing Problem, which consists of Rusty Kelley and Emelia McKay, have created an album called “Bed of Sex, Pit of Tar” that is another example of why Austin’s noise/experimental scene is a force to be reckoned with. “Bed of Sex” is a very heavy album to listen to. It’s often unsettling, which is exactly what it sets out to be. The album works best at setting a mood, sucking listeners into its heavy atmosphere for the entire 59 minutes. It evokes the image of a city slowly being destroyed in a way that’s tragic, but impossible not to watch. The last few songs show the aftermath of the destruction, and the album’s final track acts as the credits to the spectacle.

SMELL AND QUIM; Scum-Grief 7" flexi-disc (1989)
7" uncut flexi-disc (1989), Used
Flexi from 1989, an early one. Nasty stapled cover displaying a cock split in half. I expected the more crazy and wack S&Q, but this is closer in nature to their rather untypical and subdued second album, The Jissom Killers. Here Milovan and Paul sound like as if ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO were covering METGUMBNERBONE, or something. Demented flutes (or whatever it might be) wailing sadly to the steady beat of a distant kettle-drum, with various rattling sounds appearing along the way. Eerie lobotomized march music. Great sound too (for being a flexi that is).

WHIRLYWIRLD; Whirlywirld S/T 7" EP !!SIGNED by Ollie Olsen!!
7" single (1979) Missing Link Records
Whirlywirld was an Australian post punk band led by Ollie Olsen in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and the first of his musical collaborations with drummer John Murphy. They played in Melbourne and Sydney and were a part of the Melbourne little band scene. This is their debut release from 1979 on legendary 'Missing Link' store label. This track, as well as the band appeared in Richard Lowensteins 1986 cult film 'Dogs in space'. It's a pretty rare item now days, and we only have this one copy. Grab it while you can.....
